REDWOOD FALLS-- The Yellow Medicine East Sting baseball team’s win streak of 12 was snapped today losing 4-3 to the Redwood Valley Cardinals on Tuesday evening.
The Sting scored the first three runs of the game. Drew Almich had two hits and drove in all three of YME’s runs. Bryce Sneller had two hits in the ballgame but the rest of the 12 batters only combine for a total of four hits.
The Cardinals scored in consecutive innings tying up the game at three-all after four and taking the lead for good in the 5th, 4-3. Although the Sting outhit the Cardinals, they had two errors in the loss as opposed to none for Redwood Valley.
The Sting now will await their seeding as they prepare for the Section 3A playoffs that are set to begin on Saturday.
MCC 5, TMB 3
SLAYTON-- The Murray County Central Rebels baseball team won a close contest against the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Panthers 5-3 on Tuesday evening.
The Rebels scored the first five runs of the game and held on to pick up the victory. Abe Paulzine had two hits and drove in two runs. Christian Tentinger also had two hits. Connor Degreeff added a hit and drove in an RBI in the ballgame.
Trevor Smith for the Panthers had two hits and drove in two runs. Jaret Ankrum had two hits as well in the loss.
Both teams will now await seeding for the Section 3A playoffs as they will start this upcoming Saturday.
RTR 8, LQPV 3
MADISON-- The Russell Tyler Ruthton Knights baseball team defeated the Lac Qui Parle Valley Eagles 8-3 on Tuesday evening.
The Knights scored the first seven runs of the game and cruised to an easy victory. Leadoff hitter Aiden Wichmann had two hits and drove in a run. Cody Wichmann also had two hits and two walks. Isaac Dagel and Tyler Wichmann each had two hits as well and both drove in a run.
Cody Wichmann also threw six innings giving up three runs on six hits but also struck out 10. Hayden Gravley came in and got the save, striking out two and giving up a hit and walk.
The RTR Knights will now await seeding in the Section 3A playoffs that are set to begin on Saturday morning.
Wabasso 10, Kenyon-Wanamingo 1
ST. PETER-- The Wabasso Rabbits baseball team got the bats going early and kept it going on a rout of Kenyon-Wanamingo 10-1 on Tuesday evening.
Adryen Tietz had three hits in the victory including a double and scored three runs and two RBIs. His teammate Jaxson Wagner had two doubles and drove in three RBIs. Tietz also started as a pitcher and had eight strikeouts giving up one run with no walks. Calvin Hanna had two hits with a walk, drove in two RBIs, and scored three runs.
The Rabbits blew the game open in the bottom of the 4th innings scoring five runs and having an 8-1 lead.
The Wabasso Rabbits will now await seeding as they prepare for the Section 3A playoffs that are set to begin on Saturday morning.
Ortonville 14, Canby 5
CANBY-- The Canby Lancers dropped their home finale contest to the Ortonville Trojans 14-5 on Tuesday evening.
The Trojans scored 11 of their 14 runs early and put the Lancers in a deficit that was too much to overcome. Jace Sigler had two hits and drove in a game-high three RBIs in the loss. Sawyer Drietz also had two hits in the ballgame with a walk.
However, no other Lancers would have a multiple-hit game in the lineup. Also, Canby had 10 hits as a team but committed three errors as well.
Colton Ruether pitched four innings, giving up two runs on seven hits but struck out a game-high seven batters as well.
The Canby Lancers will now await seeding for the Section 3A playoffs that will start on Saturday morning.
Minneota 9, CMC 5
PRINSBERG -- The Minneota Vikings baseball team scored four runs in the ninth inning, breaking a tie and securing the victory over the Central Minnesota Christian Bluejays, 9-5, on Tuesday evening.
Isaac Pohlen had a game-high four hits including a double and drove in three RBIs in the contest. Brody Larson also drove in three RBIs and had two hits. Peyton Gillund and Parker Bradley had two hits in the victory. Gillund also pitched five innings and struck out four batters.
Minneota was in control of the game until CMCS had a four-run fifth inning and tied up the ballgame. After both offenses stalled, that was when the bats of the Vikings woke up pulling away from the Bluejays.
The Vikings will now await seeding for the Section 3A playoffs that are set to begin on Saturday morning.
RCW 4, RRC/WWG 2
MILROY -- The Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove baseball team dropped its regular-season finale against Renville County West 4-2 in the Irish Yard on Tuesday afternoon.
Quintyn Vold scored both of the Falcons' runs in the game. Trailing 1-0 in the third inning, Vold reached base with a walk before eventually scoring when Dan Kleven reached on an error. Vold went on to score again in the seventh inning after singling and being driven in when Dan Kleven was walked with the bases loaded.
Vold closed out the game with a pair of scoreless innings on the mound, striking out each of the six batters he faced.
Kleven reached base on three of his four at-bats in the game, also singling in the first inning.
Ashton Juhnke started on the mound for RRC/WWG, throwing three innings while striking out four batters and allowing one run on three hits and a pair of walks.
Hudsen Jenniges made the first relief appearance, allowing three runs over two innings while getting charged with the loss.
The Falcons will await section placement, which will come out today.
