WABASSO — The Wabasso volleyball team defended its home court with a three-set sweep of Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop, winning 25-11, 25-12 and 25-16. The victory moves the Rabbits to 12-10 overall and 5-3 in conference play. Kenley Guetter led Wabasso’s offensive attack with 19 kills, while Cassie Bliss directed the offense with 19 assists. MINNEOTA — The Minneota volleyball team continued its strong season with a three-set sweep of Canby, winning 25-4, 25-13 and 25-19. The victory moves the Vikings to 22-4 overall and 9-0 in conference play. Minneota dominated the opening set, limiting Canby to four points before taking the second set 25-13. I want to start this column off with a hearty congratulations to Chad Johnston and the Minneota Vikings football team for celebrating the re-naming of their football field by setting a record 49th consecutive win. They have done it with style and class, and they have produced many outstanding players in that span of 49 games. The previous record was held by Gerhard (Gary) Meidt’s teams in the mid-eighties, led by his son, Chris, an outstanding quarterback. LAMBERTON — The Red Rock Central volleyball team fell to the Murray County Central Rebels in three sets Tuesday night, dropping the match 25-10, 25-17 and 25-21. The loss moves the Falcons to 5-12 overall and 2-6 in conference play. Red Rock Central showed improvement as the match progressed, scoring 21 points in the third set before MCC closed out the sweep. After narrowly winning the opening set, Lakeview was unable to keep its momentum as TMB won the next three sets to claim the 3-1 victory.
