Blackjacks fall to Hancock in straight sets

HANCOCK — Dawson-Boyd volleyball hit the road for a matchup with Hancock, falling to the home team in a three-set sweep. The Blackjacks fell 11-25, 13-25, 26-28. Kate Gruwall led Dawson-Boyd with five service aces, while Kadyn Perkins added two and Emma Stotesbery had one. Perkins also led the Blackjacks with 15 kills, while Stotesbery recorded a team-high eight digs and 18 assists. Dawson-Boyd will return to action Sept. 21 with a road matchup against Minneota. First serve is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

MINNEOTA — Minneota football extended its winning streak to 49 games with a 65-14 victory over Canby, setting a new school record and tying for the fifth-longest winning streak in Minnesota State High School League history. After Canby opened the game with a 95-yard kickoff return touchdown, the Vikings responded with 24 consecutive points to take control. MARSHALL – The No. 14 ranked Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team completed a perfect home weekend with a 3-0 victory over Minnesota State on Saturday afternoon inside the PE Gym. MINOT - Minot State University took advantage of three Southwest Minnesota State turnovers in the second quarter, while also taking advantage of a dropped snap on an SMSU punt attempt, to score 28 points and cruise to a 59-0 victory in NSIC football on Saturday afternoon at Herb Parker Stadium.
