Mustang soccer begins NSIC play at home against UMD and BSU

THIS WEEK The Southwest Minnesota State University women's soccer team (0-2-1, 0-0 NSIC) opens Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play this weekend, hosting a pair of matches at Mattke Field at the Schwan Regional Event Center. THIS WEEK The No. 12 ranked SMSU volleyball team, after starting the season 6-1 in non-conference matches, begins NSIC action this weekend on the road. Marshall volleyball sweeps Brandon Valley (SD) in thriller

BRANDON VALLEY — Marshall volleyball is no stranger to tough games on its schedule, and that continued Tuesday when the Tigers traveled near Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to square off with one of the top teams in the state, Brandon Valley. The win did not come easy despite the sweep, as Marshall had to battle throughout all three sets. The Tigers came away with 27-25, 25-23 and 25-23 victories. Van Beck leads SMSU women’s golf following round one of Central Region Fall Preview

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's golf team opened the 2026-27 season on Tuesday finishing round one of the 16-team Central Region Fall Preview with a 34-over-par 322 at the Adams Pointe Golf Club. SMSU is currently in a tie for 14th place, but trails 10th place Newman University by just six strokes. Vikings rally for comeback win over Chargers

WESTBROOK — Minneota volleyball hit the road for its second match of the season, taking on Westbrook-Walnut Grove in a battle with the Chargers. The Vikings appeared to be in control early, cruising to a 25-16 victory in the opening set. However, WWG responded by taking the next two sets, 26-24 and 27-25, to put Minneota in a 2-1 hole. SAINT JOSEPH​, Mo. – The No. 10 ranked Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team (6-1) ended its weekend at the Fairfield Inn & Suits Griffon Classic Saturday morning, sweeping Oklahoma Christian (3-4), by scores of 25-21, 25-21, 25-22 at the MWSU Fieldhouse.
