Leysen’ no-hitter, 15 Ks power VFW in win over Sleepy Eye

SLEEPY EYE — Mauer Leysen was firing on all cylinders and impressively pitched a no-hitter complete game with 15 strikeouts to power the Marshall VFW Orange baseball team to a 7-1 win on the road against Sleepy Eye Tuesday night. Sleepy Eye’s lone run of the night came in the fourth inning on a ground-out play with a runner on third. Leysen also had the biggest hit of the night for Marshall with a double, in addition to scoring a run and an RBI. BROOKINGS, S.D. — The Marshall VFW Orange 15U team was firing on all cylinders in its doubleheader against the 16U Brookings Bullets on Monday. Marshall shutout Brookings 19-0 in the first game behind a one-hitter performance from Max Weedman, and did the same for a 9-1 win in the second game with a big offensive performance from Magnus Schlenner. Schmitt, Deutz lead Yankees in shutout over Jaxx

MILROY — Isaac Schmitt and Nathan Deutz partnered on the mound to help lead the Milroy Yankees to a 4-0 win against the Wabasso Jaxx on Sunday in a Corn Belt League matchup. The two combined for eight strikeouts, allowing just four hits on the night.
