Van Beck ties for ninth as SMSU earns seventh place at Maverick Fall Brawl

HUDSON – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s golf team closed the final round of the 13-team Maverick Fall Brawl, hosted by Minnesota State University, shooting a 37-over-321 to finish in seventh place with a two-day score of 80-over 648. The 36-hole tournament was played at the par-71 Troy Burne Golf Club. Concordia-St. Paul won the team title with a score of 54-over 622. Tigers fall to TCU at home

MARSHALL — Playing on their home courts, Marshall girls tennis hosted Tri-City United for a meet Tuesday. The Tigers were unable to find a team victory, falling 7-0 to TCU. In singles play, Kathryn Coudron fell to TCU’s Ellie Adams, 6-3, 6-1, while Cora Medina dropped her match against Reagan Steffen by 6-1, 6-1 scores. Lancers earn second win in five-set battle

CANBY — Canby volleyball secured its second win of the season Tuesday, improving to 2-6 after a hard-fought five-set victory over Lac qui Parle Valley. The Lancers came out strong at home, taking the opening two sets 25-20 and 25-14. LQPV responded by taking the next two sets, 25-11 and 25-16, to force a decisive fifth set. Canby regained control when it mattered most, closing out the match with a 15-8 victory in the fifth set to secure the win. TRACY — In front of a great home crowd, TMB volleyball put together a strong performance Thursday night, sweeping Dawson-Boyd to improve its record to 3-4. The Panthers controlled the match from the start, opening with a 25-11 victory in the first set. Dawson-Boyd responded with a stronger showing in the second, but TMB still came away with a 25-20 win before closing out the match with another dominant 25-11 victory in the third set. MORGAN — Drew Kemp threw for four touchdowns and 234 yards on just 10 attempts for the Wabasso football team on Friday night, leading the Rabbits to a 62-0 win over Cedar Mountain. Among Kemp’s four touchdown passes was a 75-yard touchdown to Nolan Leopold, who finished the night with a team-high four catches for 124 yards. TRACY — Aiden Sanow, Ty Yackley and Jackson Kruse each logged over 100 scrimmage yards for the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton football team on Friday, leading the Panthers to 30 first-quarter points in a 44-22 win over United South Central.
