Westbrook-Walnut Grove volleyball sweeps Springfield

PRINGFIELD — Hadley Jenniges facilitated a balanced attack for the Westbrook-Walnut Grove volleyball team in its season opener against Springfield on Tuesday. The Chargers controlled each of the non-conference match’s three sets, claiming a 25-10, 26-24, 25-15 win behind Jenniges’ 22 set assists. On the finishing end of those assists, Natasha Wahl and Sydney Foster each tallied nine kills. Foster’s 10 digs were also second only to Leah VanDeWiele’s 14. GRANITE FALLS — A strong third set wasn’t enough to spark a comeback for the Yellow Medicine East volleyball team Tuesday night as it dropped a non-conference match against Hancock in four sets, 25-12, 25-14, 19-25, 25-18. Abbey Bones set a strong tone at the net for the Sting, finishing with a team-leading two ace blocks, and tying Bailey Mortenson with a team-leading seven kills. Canby volleyball tops MCC in four sets

CANBY — After dropping the first set of its season-opener against Murray County Central on Tuesday, the Canby volleyball team bounced back with three straight set victories for a 12-25, 25-18, 25-14, 25-19 win. The Lancers were aggressive at the service line with 18 aces on the day, including six from Shyanna Stoll and four each from Emily and Kinsley Verhelst. Tigers eager to kick off season against Westonka

MARSHALL — Coming off back-to-back state tournament appearances, expectations are once again high for Marshall football. The Tigers will officially begin their 2026 campaign Friday when they host Westonka at 7 p.m., giving Marshall its first opportunity to put its offseason work to the test. “We are coming off of a scrimmage with Mankato East last week.
