Vikings cruise past Dawson-Boyd in straight-set sweep

MINNEOTA — The Minneota volleyball team continued to show its dominance Tuesday night, sweeping Dawson-Boyd on its home court 25-8, 25-3, 25-6. Libby Sussner led the Vikings with four service aces as Minneota finished with 12 aces as a team. Marshall girls take runner-up, boys place 14th at Roy Griak

ST. PAUL — Claire Kruse, Jasmine Murphy and Katelyn Leibfried all finished in the top 20 of Saturday’s Roy Griak Girls Cross Country Invitational, leading the Marshall Tigers to a podium finish. The Tigers finished with a team score of 116, falling to runner-up Hillsboro/Central Valley via tiebreaker. Rabbits go 3-1 at home invitational, reach Gold semis

WABASSO — The Wabasso volleyball team swept its way through pool play in its home invitational on Saturday, but fell to BOLD in the Gold Division semifinals. Wabasso took the first set of its Gold Division semifinal match against BOLD 25-18, but dropped the second 26-24. In the deciding third set, Wabasso fell 15-12 to a BOLD squad that went on to defeat MACCRAY 25-20, 25-23 in the championship. SPRINGFIELD — After showcasing plenty of offensive fireworks in the first two games of the season, the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton football team’s offense was shut down by perennial Section 3A juggernaut Springfield on Friday. CLARA CITY — The Yellow Medicine East football team was still unable to find an offensive rhythm against MACCRAY on Friday, falling 27-0. The game marked YME’s third consecutive shutout loss to start the season, though it also marked their lowest total of points allowed to date.
