Vikings run through Class A Showcase, claim championship

BURNSVILLE — Minneota volleyball continued its recent tear at the Class A Volleyball Showcase, winning all five of its matches over the weekend to claim the championship. The Vikings opened with a sweep of Ely, winning 25-9, 25-15, before defeating Spring Grove 25-20, 25-16. Minneota then swept Sacred Heart 25-21, 25-14, before earning a three-set victory over RTR, 25-18, 18-25, 15-13. CLOUD – The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s soccer team (1-5-2, 1-3-1 NSIC) was defeated Friday night in the dying moments of the match by the St. Cloud State Huskies (3-3-2, 2-2-1 NSIC), losing by a score of 1-0. Panthers unable to hold early lead in loss to Sleepy Eye United

SLEEPY EYE — Despite jumping out to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter, TMB football was unable to maintain its momentum as the Panthers fell to Sleepy Eye United 40-28. Jackson Kruse led TMB at quarterback, throwing for 92 yards and a touchdown. He also had a strong performance on the ground, rushing for 157 yards and three touchdowns. MINNEOTA — A week after breaking the school record for consecutive wins and moving into a tie for the fifth-longest winning streak in Minnesota State High School League history, Minneota football returned to its home field Friday night with a chance to reach another milestone.
