SMSU golf set to host the EverSpring Inn & Suites Mustang Invite this weekend

MARSHALL - The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s golf team will host the 28th annual EverSpring Inn & Suites Mustang Invite this Saturday and Sunday at the 5,877-yard, par 72 Marshall Golf Club. The 36-hole invite begins on Saturday with tee times starting on both hole 1 and 10 at 9 a.m. The final round will begin with a shotgun start on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. A total of 73 individuals from 12 teams are expected to compete including Southwest Minnesota State, Augustana, Concordia (Moorhead), Briar Cliff, Chadron State, ...

Lancers fall to Ortonville in four-set battle

CANBY — After winning the opening set in their home matchup against Ortonville, Canby volleyball was unable to close out another set as the visitors came away with a four-set victory. The Lancers took the first set 25-15 before Ortonville responded with wins of 25-21, 25-22 and 25-21. Sting swept by MACCRAY in Camden Conference matchup

GRANITE FALLS — The MACCRAY Wolverines were too much for the Yellow Medicine East volleyball team to handle on Tuesday night as the Sting fell in straight sets in Camden Conference play, 25-17, 25-9, 25-17. Abbey Bones led the Sting with three ace blocks and six kills while Kourney Peterson added nine digs. Charlotte Paslawski also contributed six digs and seven service aces. RRC extends win streak to four with win over Edgerton

LAMBERTON — The Red Rock Central volleyball team strung together its fourth consecutive win on Tuesday, topping Edgerton in Red Rock Conference play 25-22, 21-25, 25-21, 25-15 behind Amelia Ubl’s 34 digs. Kendra Schroeder also contributed 16 digs, and Natasha Erickson and Zoey Keck added 12 each. Erickson’s 31 set assists were a team-high. Lakeview rallies past CMC in five-set thriller

COTTONWOOD — Taylor Hinz’s 17 kills propelled Lakeview past Central Minnesota Christian in a five-set Camden Conference battle. Lakeview took the first set 25-22 before CMC took the lead with 27-25 and 25-12 wins in the ensuing pair of sets, but Lakeview closed out the victory with hard-fought wins of 25-23 and 17-15. TRACY — Melaina Ankrum’s well-rounded effort helped the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton volleyball team get back within a game of .500 on Tuesday. Taking on Lac qui Parle Valley in Camden Conference play, the Panthers earned a 25-11, 25-17, 25-15 sweep. Ankrum didn’t lead the team in any single category, but contributed heavily in several.
