Vikings roll past KMS for second straight sweep

KERKHOVEN — Thanks in part to double-digit kill performances from Eden Meagher and Brek Fier, Minneota volleyball rolled to a sweep over KMS, winning 25-23, 25-13, 25-11. Meagher led the Vikings with 15 kills, while Fier added 10 as Minneota earned its second straight sweep after defeating Dawson-Boyd earlier in the week. Falcons edge Mountain Lake in four-set road victory

MOUNTAIN LAKE — Red Rock Central volleyball came away with a four-set road victory over Mountain Lake, winning 25-19, 25-23, 23-25, 26-24. Following a strong performance in her previous match, Amelia Ubl continued to make an impact defensively, finishing with 25 digs. Natasha Erickson also recorded 25 digs, while Zoey Keck added 23. Panthers sweep MACCRAY to return to .500

CLARA CITY — TMB volleyball hit the road for a matchup with MACCRAY and came away with the result it was looking for, sweeping the Wolverines 25-19, 25-18, 25-23. The victory brings the Panthers back to .500 on the season at 6-6. Allie Adams led TMB with 16 kills and also contributed one of the team’s nine service aces and eight digs. Gretchen Lanoue added a team-high four aces in the victory. Melaina Ankrum led the Panthers at the net with two of TMB’s three blocks. TMB will return to action Sept. 26 at the Sibley East tournament.

Tigers set season high with nine-goal shutout of Worthington

MARSHALL — The Marshall girls soccer team left nothing on the field Thursday night, exploding for nine goals in a shutout victory over Worthington. The nine-goal performance marked a new season high for the Tigers and improved their record to 4-3-2 on the season. Marshall will return to action Sept. 26 with a 1 p.m. road matchup against Willmar.

No. 11 SMSU rallies late, defeats Sioux Falls in five-set thriller

SIOUX FALLS – The No. 11 ranked Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team (10-2, 4-1 NSIC) rallied for a 3-2 victory over the University of Sioux Falls (4-9, 0-5 NSIC) on Thursday night at Stewart Center, winning by set scores of 25-22, 21-25, 20-25, 25-21 and 15-7. The win marked the 100th victory for head coach Tyler Boddy in his time at SMSU. Natalie Pilney led SMSU offensively with 15 kills while hitting .343. The 15 kill mark ties a career high for Pilney. Lancers swept by CMC on the road

PRINSBURG — Canby volleyball traveled to Central Minnesota Christian on Thursday night, but the Lancers were unable to pick up the road victory, falling in straight sets. Canby fell by scores of 10-25, 17-25 and 15-25. Rachel Jelen led the Lancers with four kills, while Rhylin Anderson and Kinsley Verhelst added three kills apiece.
