WWG’s defense leads Chargers past RRC

LAMBERTON -- A masterful defensive effort led the Westbrook-Walnut Grove volleyball team to a Red Rock Conference victory over Red Rock Central on Tuesday night. The Chargers had three players with at least 16 digs on the night as they downed the Falcons 25-16, 25-20, 25-17.

Leah VanDeWiele led the WWG back row with 24 digs, followed by 18 from Sydney Foster and 16 from Natasha Wahl. Foster also recorded a game-high 16 kills, and her two service aces trailed only Wahl's three.

Amelia Ubl led RRC with 24 digs, followed by 16 from Zoey Keck and 14 from Kendra Schroeder. Erickson logged a pair of team highs with four kills and five set assists for the Falcons.

Hadley Jenniges tallied 29 set assists for WWG.

The Chargers improve to 12-7 on the year and travel to Hills-Beaver Creek (6-7) for their next match on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

RRC falls to 5-10 and looks to end its four-match slide when it goes on the road for a matchup with No. 2 Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (16-3) on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.
