RENVILLE -- Brooks Baune scored three touchdowns for the No. 4 Wabasso football team on Friday as the Rabbits ran away with a 44-0 win over Renville County West.
Baune scored each of the game's first two touchdowns, catching a 25-yard touchdown pass from Drew Kemp in the first quarter and running the ball for a five-yard touchdown in the second. He also had a two-yard touchdown run in the final minute of the first half to head into the locker room with a 30-0 lead.
Baune caught five passes for a team-high 94 yards and ran the ball six times for 21 yards. Joe Rohlik was the Rabbits' leading rusher with 10 carries for 120 yards, and Paxton Huhnerkoch toted the ball three times for 41 yards.
Huhnerkoch put the game away in the third quarter with a 33-yard touchdown run and a seven-yard touchdown run.
Drew Kemp had another big passing game for the Rabbits, completing 15 of his 19 attempts for 230 yards and a touchdown. In addition to Baune, the Rabbits also had Jack Burns, Nolan Leopold and Rohlik each finish with 30 or more receiving yards, including a second-quarter touchdown for Burns.
Rohlik snagged an interception on the defensive side of the ball. Leading the defensive front, Nolan Hanson logged seven total tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss, while Caden Frericks contributed 11 total tackles and a pass deflection. Jack Burns also came up with nine total tackles in the game.
Wabasso improves to 5-0 and goes on the road to take on No. 8 Nicollet (4-1) on Friday at 7 p.m.
