CLARA CITY -- Randy Sorensen scored three second-quarter touchdowns to help the top-ranked Minneota football team pull away for a 57-0 win over MACCRAY on Friday.
The Vikings led 14-0 in the fourth quarter when Sorensen started to catch fire. He punched in a pair of touchdown runs from four and five yards out, and he caught a 28-yard touchdown pass to go into halftime with a 36-0 lead. Sorensen finished the day with 12 carries for 73 yards and two receptions for 60 yards.
Tristen Sussner completed 19 of his 27 pass attempts for 255 yards, three touchdowns and an interception. Landon Esping was his primary receiver, hauling in eight receptions for 85 yards.
Quinton Anderson punched in a five-yard touchdown run for the lone points of the first quarter, and Owen Myrvik got the Vikings back on the scoreboard in the second by catching a 24-yard touchdown pass from Sussner.
Evan Jerzak ended the game with 12 assisted tackles and a solo tackle, and Myrvik logged eight assisted and three solo tackles. Jerzak also intercepted a pass in the game.
Gage Johnston and Jerzak each had second-half touchdown runs, and Sam Myhre caught a 23-yard receiving touchdown.
Minneota now sits at a perfect 5-0 and next heads to Madison for a game against Lac qui Parle Valley (3-2) on Friday at 7 p.m.
