Marshall tops Luverne in regular season finale

LUVERNE -- The Marshall tennis team snapped a 10-match skid on Thursday, downing Luverne 6-1 behind a perfect sweep of the day's singles matches.

Kathryn Coudron set the tone in the top singles match, picking up a 6-0, 6-3 win over Sophia Remnie. Julia Pafko and Emry Jans also won in straight sets in singles 3 and 4, Pafko downing Lauren Peters 6-2, 6-1 and Jans defeating Autumn Deceserae 6-0, 6-0.

Cora Medina dropped the first set of her singles No. 2 match against CCamryn Schepel 6-4. Yet, Medina rallied to claim the next two sets 6-2, 6-1.

Mallory Wendorff and Greta Bailey had to battle hard to claim the first set of their doubles No. 3 match against Ashlynn Hemme and McKenzie Smith, eventually claiming a 7-5 win. The Tiger duo built off that momentum to complete the win with a 6-2 set 2 victory.

Harlow Ogren and Raya Goergen earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Olivia Versteeg and Allysa Evers in doubles No. 2.

Grayson Woodley and Lily Lanoe earned Luverne's lone point of the day in doubles No. 1, defeating the Marshall duo of Ava Weller and Maddie Kisner 6-3, 6-3.

Marshall is now 2-16 on the season and opens the Section 2AA quarterfinals at St. Peter on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
