Lakeview’s comeback bid falls short against MACCRAY

By Daniel Lins 2 min read

COTTONWOOD -- Chance Kosel's strong rushing performance wasn't enough to propel the fourth-seeded Lakeview football team to a win on Tuesday night as the Lakers fell 21-12 to No. 5 MACCRAY in the Section 4A quarterfinals.

Kosel finished the day with a team-high 12 carries for 69 yards and a touchdown. His score came in the third quarter, cutting the gap to 14-12, but Lakeview wasn't able to punch in what would have been the tying 2-point conversion and the Wolverines added an insurance touchdown in the fourth.

Teagan Neuman completed six of his 13 pass attempts for 50 yards for Lakeview. Gage Dimmick caught four of those receptions for 30 yards and Kosel accounted for the other pair of receptions for 20 yards.

MACCRAY ran in a touchdown from the 2-yard line in the first quarter, though Neuman responded with a 1-yard touchdown run of his own to tie up the game at 6 points apiece. Still, MACCRAY took the lead in the second with a touchdown and 2-point conversion and held onto that lead for the remainder of the night.

Kosel tallied six solo and eight assisted tackles in the game and Dimmick logged nine solo and two assisted tackles. Kosel also recovered a fumble and Neuman finished with a defensive interception.

Lakeview wraps up its season at 3-6 and graduates Logan Herrick, Blake Peltier, Jake Robinson and Wyatt Aakre.
