Chandler, Johnson power RTR past TMB

TRACY -- Brayden Chandler crossed the plane for a pair of rushing touchdowns for the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton football team on Friday night, helping the Knights pull away for a 35-8 win over Tracy-Milroy-Balaton.

Chandler and Micah Johnson were a dynamic backfield duo for the Knights on the day. Chandler took 13 attempts for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Johnson carried the ball 15 times for 139 yards.

Lane Wichmann finished the game with an interception on defense for the Knights, and Garrett Elton and Colton Chandler each logged 10 solo tackles with a sack for Elton.

Jackson Kruse led the TMB offense by completing 17 of his 34 pass attempts for 155 yards and an interception. He also ran the ball 12 times for 33 yards and a touchdown, trailing only Nolan Verlinde's 16 attempts for 45 yards.

Emery Xiong was the Panthers' leading receiver with three receptions for 67 yards.

Ty Yackley logged an interception and three tackles for the TMB defense.

Gavin Hook completed seven of his 11 attempts for 91 yards for RTR.

RTR improves to 3-2 and heads to Olivia for a game against BOLD (1-4) on Friday at 7 p.m. TMB falls to 2-3 and looks to end its three-game skid in Slayton against Murray County Central (2-3) on Friday at 7 p.m.
