CANBY -- Colten Bothun's three-touchdown game helped the No. 10 Dawson-Boyd football team survive a scare against Canby on Friday. The two teams were tied at 13 points apiece heading into the final frame, but the Blackjacks surged ahead when it mattered most to claim the 27-20 victory.

Aiden Olson put the Blackjacks on top with a pick-6 from the 2-yard line and Bothun followed up with a 22-yard rushing touchdown shortly thereafter to put the game to bed. Canby responded with a 3-yard passing touchdown, but it was too little, too late for the Lancers.

Bothun toted the ball 24 times for 153 yards and a pair of touchdowns on the ground, as well as three catches for 39 yards and a touchdown. Aedyn Dahl added another 22 carries for 94 yards in the win.

Bothun scored the game's first points on a 25-yard reception from Carson Stratmoen, and he added a 9-yard run in the second to bring the score to 13-0. Yet, Canby converted a pair of passing touchdowns to tie the game up before the break.

Stratmoen completed five of his 11 pass attempts for 49 yards and a touchdown.

Kingston Crosby led Dawson-Boyd defensively with five total tackles and three sacks, and Aiden Olson added eight total tackles with four tackles for loss. Olson and Cale Tufto each also intercepted a pass.

Dawson-Boyd improves to 4-1 and returns to action on Friday when it heads to Clara City to take on MACCRAY (2-3) at 7 p.m. Canby drops to 1-4 and looks to get back in the win column in Cottonwood when it does battle with Lakeview (2-3) at the same time.
