YME sweeps LQPV for first win of season

MADISON -- A well-rounded effort helped the Yellow Medicine East volleyball team pick up its first win of the season on Thursday. Taking on Lac qui Parle Valley, the Sting got contributions from up and down their roster as they swept the Eagles 25-19, 25-15, 25-15 in Camden Conference play.

Everra Leenerts ended the night with a team-high 10 kills, followed by eight from Bailey Mortenson and seven from Abby Bones.

Defensively, Chasity Schmitz's 13 digs, Charlotte Paslawski's 12 and Kourtney Peterson's 11 led the way. Paslawski also contributed 23 set assists.

YME improves to 1-5 and next hosts MACCRAY (4-2) in Granite Falls on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
