BURNSVILLE -- Minneota volleyball continued its recent tear at the Class A Volleyball Showcase, winning all five of its matches over the weekend to claim the championship.
The Vikings opened with a sweep of Ely, winning 25-9, 25-15, before defeating Spring Grove 25-20, 25-16. Minneota then swept Sacred Heart 25-21, 25-14, before earning a three-set victory over RTR, 25-18, 18-25, 15-13. The Vikings capped the weekend with a championship-game sweep of Kenyon-Wanamingo, 25-9, 25-15.
In the opening win over Ely, Eden Meagher and Jaylyn Coequyt led the Vikings offensively with 13 and 10 kills, respectively.
Minneota also recorded seven service aces in the match, led by two from Autum Anderson.
Anderson continued to make an impact at the service line against Spring Grove, recording four of the Vikings' nine aces. Libby Sussner led Minneota with 15 assists in the victory.
Against Sacred Heart, the Vikings recorded eight aces, with Sussner leading the way with four.
Jalyn Coequyt paced Minneota with seven kills, while Meagher added six. Meagher and Brek Fier each recorded two blocks.
The fourth match of the weekend proved to be Minneota's closest, as RTR pushed the Vikings to three sets. Meagher led the way with 14 kills, while Leah Coequyt and Jalyn Coequyt combined for 19 kills, with Leah recording 11 and Jalyn adding eight.
Minneota ultimately prevailed to advance to the championship match.
In the title match against Kenyon-Wanamingo, Anderson recorded two aces and led the Vikings with eight digs as Minneota completed the perfect weekend.
The championship improved Minneota to 14-2 on the season. The Vikings remain 3-0 in conference play.
Minneota will return to action Tuesday, Sept. 29, hosting Lac qui Parle Valley.
