MINNEOTA -- Minneota football extended its winning streak to 49 games with a 65-14 victory over Canby, setting a new school record and tying for the fifth-longest winning streak in Minnesota State High School League history.
After Canby opened the game with a 95-yard kickoff return touchdown, the Vikings responded with 24 consecutive points to take control.
Canby cut the deficit to 24-14, but Minneota answered with 41 straight points to pull away and secure the 65-14 win.
The Vikings' defense also shut out Canby in the second half.
Tristen Sussner led Minneota with 143 passing yards and threw three touchdown passes. Randy Sorensen added 156 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns, while also catching a touchdown pass.
