MINNEOTA -- The Minneota volleyball team continued to show its dominance Tuesday night, sweeping Dawson-Boyd on its home court 25-8, 25-3, 25-6.
Libby Sussner led the Vikings with four service aces as Minneota finished with 12 aces as a team.
Jalyn Coequyt paced the Vikings with nine kills, while Brek Fier added seven.
"Jalyn is a heck of a hitter for us," Vikings head coach Kaley Buysse said. "She can just read the defense so well and she is not afraid to go up and attack the ball and be smart."
Fier also contributed three of Minneota's six blocks.
"Brek did a great job tonight. We want to keep working her into the game as much as possible, and she always does a great job going back and serving and keeping the ball alive," Buysse said.
For Dawson-Boyd, Lauren Lee and Claire Stratmoen led the Blackjacks with two kills apiece. Emma Stotesbery recorded Dawson-Boyd's lone service ace.
"The goal for us tonight was to come out and bring the energy that we know we are capable of bringing, and play at the level we know we can play at," Buysse said.
The opening set was competitive early, with the teams trading points before Minneota began to pull away. Buysse said the Vikings came out a bit slow but found their rhythm once they started executing.
"It was great tonight because everyone did what they needed to tonight," she said. "It was great to be able to get some more bench players in the game, and it did not change the flow or momentum of the game."
The victory improves Minneota to 9-2 overall and 3-0 in conference play. The Vikings will return to action Thursday, Sept. 24, at KMS.
