PRINSBURG -- It took five hard-fought sets, but Minneota volleyball came away with a road victory over Central Minnesota Christian, improving to 2-0 in conference play and 8-2 overall.
The Vikings took the opening set 25-18 before CM Christian evened the match with a 25-23 win in the second. Minneota regained the lead with a 25-18 victory in the third, but the Bluejays forced a deciding fifth set by taking the fourth 25-17.
Minneota came through when it mattered most, securing the match with a 15-11 win in the fifth.
Eden Meagher led the Vikings with 14 kills, while Jaylyn Coequyt and Leah Coequyt added 13 and 11 kills, respectively, giving Minneota three players in double figures.
The Vikings also made an impact at the net, finishing with 12 blocks as a team. Jaylyn Coequyt and Ava Rost led the way with four blocks apiece.
Libby Sussner paced Minneota's offense with 28 assists, while Sophie Gillund added 23. The Vikings also had four different players record an ace.
Minneota will look to keep its momentum going when it returns home to host Dawson-Boyd on Tuesday, Sept. 22.
