Van Beck ties for ninth as SMSU earns seventh place at Maverick Fall Brawl

HUDSON - The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf team closed the final round of the 13-team Maverick Fall Brawl, hosted by Minnesota State University, shooting a 37-over-321 to finish in seventh place with a two-day score of 80-over 648. The 36-hole tournament was played at the par-71 Troy Burne Golf Club.

Concordia-St. Paul won the team title with a score of 54-over 622. CSP's Ella Matzke and Addi Wood earned co-medalist honors at 8-over 150.

Izzie Van Beck led the Mustangs finishing in a tie for ninth place at 15-over 157. Van Beck shot a 4-over 75 on Tuesday with two birdies and 10 pars.

Katelyn Storbeck tied for 23rd at 20-over 162, following a final round 12-over 83 with one birdie and nine pars. Carly Bronson recorded an eagle, two birdies and six pars on Tuesday to shoot 7-over 78 and place tied for 29th overall at 22-over 164.

Dayton Webskowski finished tied for 34th at 23-over 165, following a final round 14-over 85 with nine pars. Alyssa Swedzinski closed with a 14-over 85, making one birdie and seven pars, to finish the tournament in a tie for 54th place at 33-over 175.

Allie Nedved, one of three Mustangs playing as an individual, made one birdie and eight pars on Tuesday to shoot an 11-over 82 and finish tied for 51st overall at 29-over 173. Carly Hamman also finished tied for 51st overall at 29-over 173, shooting a 15-over 86 on Tuesday with one birdie and seven pars. Natalie Appel had four pars during the final round carding a 25-over 96.

SMSU returns to competition next Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 21-22, playing at the Concordia-St. Paul Jewel Invite at The Jewel Golf Club in Lake City, Minn.
