Tigers tennis battles against Worthington

WORTHINGTON -- Looking for its second meet victory of the season, Marshall girls tennis traveled to Worthington and kept the meet competitive throughout, but ultimately fell to the Trojans 6-1.

The Tigers' lone victory came in singles, where Kathryn Coudron battled back to defeat Worthington's Lily Brown in three sets, 4-6, 7-5, 10-8.

Cora Medina also went three sets in her singles match against Kah Moo, falling 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.

Kyra Bailey faced Claire Schultz and fell 2-5, 2-0, 2-0, while Julia Sherman rounded out Marshall's singles lineup with a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Isabella Poe.

The Tigers were unable to pick up a victory in doubles, but several matches remained competitive.

Julia Patko and Emry Jans fell to Emma Heitbrink and Madison Poe, 6-3, 6-1.

Harlow Ogren and Raya Feorgen battled Maris Shwe and Nallely Escalante before falling 7-6, 6-2.

Marshall's Maddie Kisner and Ava Weller played the closest doubles match of the day, going three sets against Lwe Ka Paw Emu and Lisbeth Soto. The Tigers dropped the match 6-7, 7-6, 10-6.

Despite the final score, Marshall showed its ability to compete with Worthington, with Coudron's comeback victory and multiple matches going the distance.

The Tigers will look to use the competitive meet as they continue their pursuit of their second meet win of the season.
