MARSHALL -- Playing in their second home game of a packed week, Marshall volleyball picked up its third win in the last four matches and seventh victory in its last eight, sweeping New Ulm 25-11, 25-16, 25-16.
The Tigers recorded seven service aces as a team in the straight-set victory.
"We had some different lineups out there tonight, and we were able to keep rolling," Marshall head coach Dan Westby said.
Leah Stelter and Nora Holmgren each recorded three aces, while Madi Mernaugh added one. Stelter also finished with 38 assists.
Holmgren led the Tigers offensively with 17 kills. Bentley Krull added eight kills, while Chika Nwakama finished with six.
"Nora and Chika have been great for us all year, and I thought the two of them were very active in the middle tonight, and Leah did a great job of getting them the ball," Westby said.
Holmgren also led Marshall with two blocks, while Nwakama and Krull each added one.
Kezlyn Pinckney and Stelter recorded eight digs apiece.
Westby used nearly his entire roster during the victory and was pleased with how the role players performed when given opportunities.
"Those kids come to practice every day, and when they get those opportunities, as a coaching staff we are comfortable putting anyone in," Westby added.
The Tigers will return to action Friday and Saturday at the Eagle Invite, hosted by Apple Valley High School.
"We know we are going to get four very tough games this weekend, and we need to be ready to go," Westby said.
