ST. PETER -- After back-to-back losses to top-5 opponents, the No. 2 Marshall volleyball team bounced back on Tuesday with a straight-sets victory over St. Peter in Big South Conference play. The Tigers fell to No. 3AAAA Maple Grove and No. 1AAA Benilde-St. Margaret's at the Southwest Challenge over the weekend, but got right back on track with a 25-10, 25-10, 25-10 sweep.
Leah Stelter distributed the ball evenly for a balanced attack for Marshall, tallying 26 set assists. Her nine digs trailed only Kezlyn Pinckney's 13 and were just ahead of Jennifer Lee's eight.
Julia Fahl headed the Tigers' attack with 11 kills, followed by nine apiece from Nora Holmgren and Bentley Krull. Holmgren also logged a pair of blocks.
Kailyn Pearcy served up a pair of aces on the day while Pinckney, Lee and Anna Thor each added one. Those four Tigers went a combined 47 of 47 from the service line.
Marshall improves to 9-2 with the win and remains on the road for a matchup against Sioux Falls Christian (S.D.) on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
