HUDSON - The Southwest Minnesota State women's golf team carded a score of 43-over-par 327 on Monday and is currently in sixth place after round one of the 13-team Maverick Fall Brawl hosted by Minnesota State University at the par-71 Troy Burne Golf Club.
SMSU trails fourth place, Minnesota State and Pittsburg State (Kan.), by two shots while sitting four strokes behind third place Concordia-St. Paul. St. Catherine and Wisconsin-Stout are tied atop the leaderboard with a 35-over 319.
SMSU's Katelyn Storbeck finished the first round in a tie for 10th place in the 76-player field with an 8-over 79, recording two birdies and seven pars.
Dayton Webskowski had a strong round for the Mustangs shooting a 9-over 80, carding one birdie and nine pars to sit in a tie for 17th.
Izzie Van Beck had one birdie and eight pars while shooting an 11-over 82 and is tied for 22nd. Carly Bronson shot a 15-over 86 and is tied for 41st after finishing with one birdie and four pars. Alyssa Swedzinski rounded out SMSU's team play with a 19-over 90, closing with seven pars to currently stand in a tie for 54th.
Carly Hamman, one of three Mustangs playing as an individual, is tied for 45th after shooting a 16-over 87 with one birdie and seven pars. Allie Nedved is tied for 58th after making four pars on her way to a 20-over 91, while Natalie Appel had four pars and finished shooting a 32-over 103.
Addi Wood from Concordia-St. Paul and Molly Goc from Wayne State are the individual leaders following rounds of 5-over 76.
The second and final round is set to begin on Tuesday morning.
