MARSHALL – The Southwest Minnesota State volleyball team (7-2, 1-1 NSIC) dropped two spots to No. 14 in the recent AVCA Top 25 Coaches' Poll, released Monday afternoon.
SMSU split the first two NSIC matches of 2026 over the weekend. On Friday, the Mustangs suffered a four-set defeat to No. 5 ranked Concordia-St. Paul, before defeating Winona State on Saturday in four sets.
SMSU is one of five teams from the NSIC represented in the top 25. Wayne State remains at No. 2, while CSP remains at No. 5, having been in a tie for fifth last week. St. Cloud State falls two spots to No. 10 and Minnesota Duluth enters the top 25 for the first time this season at No. 23.
The Mustangs are at home this weekend for the first time this season. SMSU makes their PE Gym debut against No. 10 SCSU on Friday at 6 p.m., before hosting Minnesota State the next day at 2 p.m. SMSU athletics and SMSU volleyball are hosting a 'Gameday Round Up' before Saturday's match in the PE/BA newly paved parking lot at 12 p.m.
