MARSHALL – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's golf team will host the 28th annual EverSpring Inn & Suites Mustang Invite this Saturday and Sunday at the 5,877-yard, par 72 Marshall Golf Club. The 36-hole invite begins on Saturday with tee times starting on both hole 1 and 10 at 9 a.m. The final round will begin with a shotgun start on Sunday at 9:30 a.m.
A total of 73 individuals from 12 teams are expected to compete including Southwest Minnesota State, Augustana, Concordia (Moorhead), Briar Cliff, Chadron State, Dakota Wesleyan (S.D.), Gustavus, MSU Moorhead, Minnesota Crookston, Upper Iowa, Sioux Falls and Winona State.
SMSU will have its first tee time on Saturday starting on hole 1 at 9:48 a.m.
Minnesota State won last season's tournament with a score of 607 (+31). Emerson Garlie from MSU captured the individual title with 2-over 146.
SMSU, which finished eighth out of 11 teams last season, has won the title twice (2000 & 2005) in tournament history.
Following this weekend, SMSU will conclude its fall schedule at the Central Region Preview on Oct. 11-13 at Meadowlark Hills Golf Club in Kearney, Neb.
