WABASSO -- The Wabasso volleyball team swept its way through pool play in its home invitational on Saturday, but fell to BOLD in the Gold Division semifinals.
Wabasso took the first set of its Gold Division semifinal match against BOLD 25-18, but dropped the second 26-24. In the deciding third set, Wabasso fell 15-12 to a BOLD squad that went on to defeat MACCRAY 25-20, 25-23 in the championship.
The Rabbits were tested early, falling 25-22 in the first set of its opener against Montevideo but claiming a 25-16 win in the second. Wabasso was awarded a win based on aggregate tiebreaker.
In its second match of the day, Wabasso also won via tiebreaker. The Rabbits took the first set 25-19 before dropping the second 27-25. Wabasso also defeated MACCRAY 25-22, 25-20 to close out pool play.
After going 3-1 at the tournament, Wabasso improves to 5-6 on the season. The Rabbits will look to get to .500 for the first time this season when they go on the road to take on Springfield (2-3) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
