ORTONVILLE -- Kourtney Peterson's 25 digs weren't enough to get the Yellow Medicine East volleyball team in the win column on Thursday. Taking on Ortonville in Camden Conference play, the Sting took two of the first three sets, 25-12 and 27-25 with a 25-18 loss in between. Yet, the Trojans took sets four and five, 25-13 and 16-14, to hand YME the five-set loss.
In the front row, Abbey Bones led the way with 16 kills and tied Hanna Bjorndal with a team-high three ace blocks. Bones' four service aces were second only to Charlotte Paslawski's six.
Paslawski also tallied 23 set assists in the match, as well as eight digs.
YME falls to 1-7 on the season and next competes at the Bertha-Hewitt tournament on Saturday. The Sting take on Swanville (8-7) at 11 a.m. and Pillager (6-9) at noon.
