SIOUX FALLS, S.D. -- Despite dropping a rare set, the No. 2 Marshall volleyball team persevered for another big win on Thursday. Crossing the border to take on Sioux Falls Christian, the Tigers rode standout performances from Kezlyn Pinckney and Julia Fahl to a 25-19, 19-25, 25-12, 25-23 win.
Pinckney’s defensive masterclass culminated in 30 digs, aided by 11 from Leah Stelter and nine from Fahl. Fahl’s pair of ace blocks tied Chika Nwakama for second on the team behind Nora Holmgren’s four.
Offensively, Fahl contributed 21 kills while Bentley Krull and Nora Holmgren added 14 and nine, respectively.
Stelter facilitated the balanced offensive attack with 40 set assists. Her pair of aces trailed only Jennifer Lee’s three.
Marshall improves to 10-2 with the win and looks to earn its third straight victory when it hosts Mankato West (6-3) on Monday at 7:15 p.m.
