ST. CLOUD - The Southwest Minnesota State University women's soccer team (1-5-2, 1-3-1 NSIC) was defeated Friday night in the dying moments of the match by the St. Cloud State Huskies (3-3-2, 2-2-1 NSIC), losing by a score of 1-0.
The Mustangs held strong defensively throughout the match, despite being outshot by SCSU 23-1, and 11-0 in shots on target.
Laynee Godfrey had the lone shot for SMSU, while sophomore goalkeeper Kennady Krebs made 10 saves in the match.
The Huskies scored in the final 30 seconds of the match, when defender Izzy Halunen headed home a cross from a corner kick into the bottom left corner.
SMSU travels to Mankato, Minn., on Sunday to face Minnesota State, with kickoff scheduled for 1 p.m.
