TYLER -- In a battle between two of the top-5 volleyball teams in Class A, the fourth-ranked Minneota Vikings came away with a statement win over No. 5 Russell-Tyler-Ruthton. The Vikings controlled the match from the start and finished strong with a 25-13, 25-17, 25-9 sweep.
Eden Meagher and Jaylyn Coequyt headed the Vikings' dynamic attack with 11 and 10 kills. Jaylyn's three blocks tied Leah Coequyt for a team-high, andd Eden Meagher added another two along with five digs.
Autum Anderson led the defensive back row with nine digs, also tying Brek Fier with a pair of service aces, and Brynn Rost contributed another seven digs.
Libby Sussner and Sophie Gillund split setting duties, ending the night with 17 and 16 set assists, respectively.
Minneota improves to 3-0 and looks to remain undefeated when it opens the Southwest Challenge in Marshall against Sartell-St. Stephen (1-1) on Friday at 6:15 p.m.
Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (2-1) looks to bounce back from its first loss of the year when it hosts Wabasso for the second of three straight home games on Monday at 7:15 p.m.
