MINNEOTA -- The Ortonville Trojans had no answer for the No. 3 Minneota volleyball team on Tuesday. The Vikings put together a true team effort as they swept their way to a 25-7, 25-12, 25-3 Camden Conference victory.
Leah Coequyt was at the forefront of the Vikings' offensive front row success, tallying nine kills in the match. Eden Meagher and Ava Rost added another seven each, and Jaylyn Coequyt contributed five.
Libby Sussner and Sophie Gillund helped spread the ball around, ending the match with 17 and 14 set assists, respectively.
Minneota's efforts were also balanced on the defensive end. In the back row, the Vikings were led by seven digs from Autum Anderson and six apiece from Brynn and Ava Rost. In the front row, Leah Coequyt logged an ace block, and Ava Rost, Breck Fier and Sydney Hennen each contributed one.
Fier also contributed a game-high four service aces and Sussner added another three.
Minneota improves to 7-2 and returns to action against undefeated Central Minnesota Christian (8-0) in Prinsburg on Thursday at 7:15 p.m. The Bluejays received votes in the latest Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association Class A poll.
