WASECA -- A pair of singles victories weren't enough to get Marshall into the win column in Thursday's Big South Conference tennis matchup against Waseca, falling 5-2.

Julia Pafko dominated her singles No. 3 match against Sam Sutton, 6-0, 6-1, and Emry Jans pulled out a 6-3, 6-4 win over Kayla Lardon in singles No. 4.

The Bluejays took the top two singles matches to even the score. Kathryn Coudron claimed a 6-0, 6-1 win over Hannah Rugger in the top matchup and Cora Medina fell 6-0, 6-2 to Ava Miller.

In the doubles No. 3, Kinley Boerboom and Julia Sherman bounced back from a 6-2 first set loss with a 6-4 second-set win. Yet, Everly Kestel and Olivia Hagen took the tiebreaker 12-10.

Ava Weller and Maddie Kisner were swept 6-2, 6-4 by Lucy Deml and Hannah Sommers in doubles No. 1, and Greta Bailey and Mallory Wendorff lost 6-3, 6-4 to Chloe Hagen and Libby Miller.

Marshall falls to 1-14 overall and 0-8 in section play with the loss. The Tigers next travel to Granite Falls for a matchup against Yellow Medicine East on Thursday.
