BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. - The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s golf team opened the 2026-27 season on Tuesday finishing round one of the 16-team Central Region Fall Preview with a 34-over-par 322 at the Adams Pointe Golf Club. SMSU is currently in a tie for 14th place, but trails 10th place Newman University by just six strokes.
SMSU had five true freshmen in its opening-season lineup with Izzie Van Beck leading the way with a 3-over 75. She racked up five birdies and six pars to sit in a tie for 13th place in the 90-player field.
Carly Bronson recorded two birdies and nine pars on her way to a 5-over 77 and tied for 29th.
Katelyn Storbeck and Alyssa Swedzinski both carded rounds of 13-over 85 to sit in 70th place, with both players recording nine pars during the round. Dayton Webskowski is tied for 76th following a round of 15-over 87 with one birdie and seven pars.
Allie Nedved and Carly Hamman both played as individuals with Nedved shooting an 18-over 90, while Hamman closed with a 30-over 102.
Nebraska-Kearney leads after day one, shooting a 2-over 290 and holds an eight-shot lead over Arkansas-Fort Smith. Payton Drefke from Augustana and Liz Lyons from Nebraska-Kearney are co-individual leaders after carding a 1-under 71.
The tournament concludes on Wednesday morning with tee times.
