COTTONWOOD -- After dropping a tightly contested opening set to Wabasso, the Lakeview volleyball team settled in on its home court and rallied to win the next three sets, securing its first home victory of the season 25-27, 25-18, 25-21, 25-22.
The Lakers responded immediately after the narrow first-set loss, using a strong all-around performance to take control of the match and close it out in four sets.
Taylor Hinz led Lakeview’s attack with 18 kills, providing a consistent presence at the net throughout the victory. Allison Isaacs, Laia Javens and Avery Hinz each added six kills for the Lakers.
Lakeview was particularly impressive at the net, recording 15 total blocks in the match.
Adison Hinz led the defensive effort with 25 digs as the Lakers continued to keep Wabasso’s offense from finding a rhythm.
The Rabbits were led offensively by Kenley Guetter, who finished with 17 kills.
Cendyll Daub also played a key role for Wabasso from the service line, recording four of the team’s 10 aces. Daub added to her all-around performance with three solo blocks and two assisted blocks.
Lakeview will look to build on its first home victory when it returns to action Sept. 3 against Murray County Central at home.
Wabasso will also be back on the court Sept. 3, hosting Central Minnesota Christian.
