Falcons claim first set of season in loss to SWMC

LAMBERTON -- The Red Rock Central volleyball team made strides on Thursday, claiming its first set victory of the season against Southwest Minnesota Christian. Still, the Falcons weren't able to ride that momentum to a win as they fell 25-19, 25-19, 23-25, 25-19 to the Eagles in Red Rock Conference play.

Amelia Ubl and Zoey Keck put together a defensive masterclass for the Falcons, ending the night with 27 and 21 digs while Kendra Schroeder added another 15. Keck's seven kills were also a team high.

Natasha Erickson and Victoria Pankonin each also contributed six kills, with Erickson tallying nine set assists and Pankonin putting up a pair of ace blocks.

Red Rock Central falls to 0-4 on the season and returns to action on Saturday at the Jackson County Central tournament. The Falcons are slated to take on Luverne (3-7) at 11:15 a.m. and No. 6 Russell-Tyler-Ruthton (4-1) at 12:30 p.m.
