SEMIFINALS
Marshall 8, Jackson 0 (5 inn.)
Max Weedman threw Marshall’s second complete-game shutout of the tournament in Orange’s 8-0 win over Jackson on Saturday, building on Mauer Leysen’s no-hitter in the quarterfinals on Friday. Weedman struck out eight Jackson batters while holding them to a hit with three walks. Weedman also drove in two runs.
Marshall led 1-0 heading into the third, when it pulled away with five runs. A Matthew Ryks walk, a Bennett Kimman single and Magnus Schlenner getting hit by a pitch loaded the bases with one out, and Weedman reached on an error to push across a pair of runs. Nolan Deutz followed up with a two-run double, and Deutz scored on a passed ball with two outs to bring the score to 6-0.
Kimman led Marshall with two hits on the day. Kellen Drake also logged a double and a walk and Kaden Boeck contributed a single and a walk.
Drake led off the first with a walk and scored the game’s first run when Weedman reached on an error with two outs.
Walks to Leysen and Graem Bly put the winning run on base with one out, and another walk to Boeck loaded the bases. Ryks singled to drive in one run and Drake hit an RBI double to cap off the victory.

CHAMPIONSHIP
New Ulm 4, Marshall 2
An early rally by New Ulm Silver was too much for Marshall Orange to overcome in Sunday’s Luverne Tournament championship round. New Ulm strung together three straight singles to start the second inning, driving in a pair of runs in the process, and they loaded the bases with two outs before Marshall walked in a run to bring the score to 3-0.
Deutz pitched 5 1/3 innings of relief for Marshall, holding New Ulm to one unearned run on three hits and three walks with eight strikeouts. Yet, Marshall’s bats weren’t able to produce the run support needed for him to get the win.
Marshall got on the scoreboard in the fourth when Deutz doubled and scored on a Boeck single. An inning later, Drake doubled and scored on a Weedman single to cut the gap to 3-2, but the Marshall bats were held in check for the remainder of the game.
Weedman led Marshall offensively with a double, a single and an RBI. Leysen also reached base twice with a single and a walk.
New Ulm loaded the bases with two outs in the sixth on a single, a Marshall error and a walk, and a bases-loaded walk pushed across one last insurance run for Silver.
Bly took the loss on the hill for Marshall, giving up three earned runs on three hits and a pair of walks over 1 2/3 frames.
