MARSHALL — Emmett Frazee’s 11 strikeouts and Nolan Deutz’s three RBIs helped the Marshall VFW Orange 15U baseball team run away with an 11-3 win over Russell-Tyler-Ruthton on Tuesday.

Frazee pitched all seven innings of the win, holding RTR to one earned run on three hits and three walks. He also drew a walk and drove in a run on the day.

Deutz was one of two Marshall batters with multiple hits on the day, along with Max Weedman’s pair of singles. Deutz doubled twice and also drew a walk.

Kyper Brownlee and Cale Erickson each reached base twice for Marshall with a pair of walks each, as well as a pair of RBIs for Brownlee.

RTR capitalized on a pair of Marshall errors in the top of the first to score the game’s first run. Yet, Kellen Drake and Matthew Ryks were each hit by pitches and Deutz was walked to load the bases with one out in the bottom of the frame. Frazee reached on an error to drive in the tying run, a walk to Brownlee pushed across the go-ahead run and a passed ball allowed Deutz to run home for a 3-1 Marshall lead.

Orange continued to build its lead when an error, a hit batter and a walk loaded the bases with two outs in the second. Brownlee worked a walk to push across a run and a passed ball allowed Weedman to score for a 5-1 lead.

RTR scored a pair of runs in the top of the third, but Marshall doubled its run total with five runs in the bottom of the frame. Kaden Boeck singled and Drake was hit by a pitch to start the frame, and Ryks followed up with a two-run single. Another single by Weedman put runners on the corners, and Deutz hit a two-run double before scoring on an error to bring the score to 10-3.

Both teams went scoreless for the remainder of the game, save for an RBI double by Deutz in the fifth.

Marshall improves to 5-1 on the season and next goes on the road to take on Luverne Junior Legion on Thursday at 7 p.m. They’ll then compete in the Marshall Junior Legion Tournament over the weekend, starting out against Brandon Valley and Moorhead Gold at Milroy Yankee Field on Friday at 11 a.m.
