MARSHALL, Minn. – The Marshall Baseball Association (MBA) is proud to announce the two newest inductees into the Marshall Baseball Hall of Fame as longtime Marshall youth baseball coaches and supporters, Steve Fleck and Blaine Schnaible, will be honored prior to the Marshall A’s game versus Bird Island on Sunday, June 28, starting at 5 p.m. at Legion Field.

The Marshall Baseball Hall of Fame was established in 2015 and now has 21 members.

Both Fleck and Schnaible spent countless hours helping build the Marshall Area Youth Baseball Association (MAYBA), serving in various roles on the MAYBA board of directors and coaching at all levels. Both volunteered and coordinated numerous local and state tournaments hosted by MAYBA and the city of Marshall.

Fleck and Schnaible both played college baseball at Southwest Minnesota State, while Schnaible also played eight seasons for the Marshall A’s amateur baseball team. Fleck played amateur ball for the Regal Eagles for 16 seasons and was member of Regal’s 1991 ‘Class C’ state championship team.

Fleck was an original member/founder of MAYBA and was a coach with Marshall baseball in various roles for more than 20 years. He served as head coach for Marshall High School for four seasons (2009-12), helping lead the team to three conference titles and was also an assistant coach with Marshall High School for 14 seasons. Fleck was also an assistant coach and head coach for both the Marshall American Legion and VFW programs.

Schnaible also was a longtime coach with Marshall High School, serving as both an assistant coach and head coach. During his tenure, he was an assistant coach and head coach for the American Legion and VFW programs.

Both Fleck and Schnaible commented the highlight of their time with MAYBA was “the countless number of families who gave the privilege and honor to teach the great game of baseball to their sons. Many today remain lifelong friends that have developed into great husbands, fathers and community members.”
