TYLER — Gavin Schreurs accounted for three hits at the plate and didn’t allow any on the mound in the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton baseball team’s win over Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Thursday. The Knights scored nine first-inning runs and rode Schreurs’ no-hitter from there to a 14-2 win in Red Rock Conference play.
Schreurs limited the Falcons to one earned run in his no-hitter, walking five batters while striking out 10. He also singled three times and drove in a pair of runs.
Jackson Jenniges, Braxton Weber and Colton Schaffran drew walks to load the bases with one out for the Falcons in the first. Carter Therkilsen drove in a run with a ground out, and an error on the play allowed another run to score for a 2-0 Falcon lead.
Yet, that would be the lone lead of the game for RRC/WWG. Schreurs struck out the half-inning’s final batter before leading off the bottom of the frame by reaching on an error, and Brayden Chandler did the same on the ensuing at-bat. Tyler Wichmann was then hit by a pitch to load the bases with no outs, and Levi Tommeraasen, Kolby Louwagie and Isaac Janish hit consecutive RBI singles to give RTR a 3-2 lead.
A strikeout put one away in the frame, but Gabe Elton drove in two runs with a single, and Tyson Burns followed with another RBI single.
Back-to-back singles by Schreurs and Chandler in their second time around the order pushed across RTR’s seventh run of the frame, and a Wichmann ground out and a passed ball each scored another run for a commanding 9-2 lead for the Knights.
Weber was charged with the loss for RRC/WWG, giving up one earned run and eight unearned runs while getting two outs. He surrendered seven hits and a walk.
Jordan Therkilsen threw the remaining 3 1/3 innings of relief, striking out three batters while allowing three earned runs on five hits and a pair of walks.
In addition to Schreurs’ three hits, Tommeraasen also reached base three times with two singles and a walk, and Louwagie and Chandler each singled twice.
RTR put the finishing touches on its mercy-rule win with five runs in the fourth. Tommeraasen and Louwagie led off the inning with consecutive singles before RRC/WWG retired consecutive batters, but back-to-back walks to Elton and Burns loaded the bases and pushed across a run. Schreurs and Chandler each then hit two-run singles to bring the score to 14-2, and Schreurs got a ground out and back-to-back strikeouts on the mound to seal the win.
RTR improves to 14-4 and next hosts undefeated Murray County Central for its final regular-season home game on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
RRC/WWG falls to 6-10 and opens a three-game homestand to close out the season when it hosts Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Friday at 4 p.m.

TMB 13, RCW 3 (6 inn.)
TRACY — Connor Lanoue and Brayden Marron each drove in three runs for the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton baseball team in its Camden Conference matchup against Renville County West on Thursday, helping the Panthers to a 13-3 win over the Jaguars.
The game was tied at three runs apiece when the TMB offense exploded for eight runs in the fifth inning. David Schuh was hit by a pitch and Taylor Squires walked to start the inning, and Jackson Kruse hit an RBI single to give the Panthers the lead.
Marron followed up with a two-run triple before scoring on an Aiden Sanow single, bringing the score to 7-3, and Brody Hauger reached on a dropped third strike before an RBI single by Carson Lanoue gave the Panthers their fifth run of the inning before RCW recorded an out.
With two outs, Schuh hit an RBI single and Squires hit a two-run double to cap off the rally with an 11-3 lead.
Schuh struck out 10 batters in a complete-game effort, holding RCW to three earned runs on four hits and three walks. He retired seven consecutive batters to close out the game, and he struck out the side in his final turn on the mound.
Sanow reached on an error and Hauger singled in the sixth to put the mercy-rule run on base. The Jaguars intentionally walked Griffin Zick with two outs to get a force in hopes of prolonging the game, but Connor Lanoue hit a two-run single to enact the mercy rule.
Kruse and Marron each logged three hits on the day, and Connor Lanoue and Squires contributed another two each with a walk for Squires. Marron’s hits included a triple, a double and a single, leaving him a homer shy of the cycle.
TMB scored a pair of first-inning runs on RBI singles from Connor Lanoue and Squires. RCW tied the game up in the top of the third with two runs of its own, but a Marron RBI double momentarily put TMB back on top before the Jaguars re-tied the game in the fourth.
TMB improves to 8-8 on the year and looks to finish the regular season above .500 when it goes on the road to take on Class 2A Pipestone in its regular-season finale, Monday at 5 p.m.

Canby 12, MACCRAY 2 (6 inn.)
RAYMOND — Despite trailing for the first three innings, the Canby baseball team put together a six-run rally in the fourth to earn a Camden Conference win over MACCRAY on Thursday. The Lancers rallied when they needed to and Morgen Tol held the Wolverines scoreless for the final five innings of the 12-2 mercy-rule win.
Trailing 2-1 entering the top of the fourth, Ben Drietz walked and Jace Rangaard was hit by a pitch to put the go-ahead run on base. Tol capitalized with an RBI single to tie the game, and after Dyllon Christianson walked to load the bases, another walk to Matthew Zitzmann pushed across the go-ahead run.
Canby continued to put numbers on the board as a Cash Antony ground out pushed across a run as MACCRAY got the inning’s first out. Hunter Kack scored on a passed ball, and after Will Abrahamson singled, Sigler hit a two-run double to bring the Lancers’ lead to 7-2.
Tol threw all six innings in the win, limiting the Wolverines to a pair of unearned first-inning runs with two hits and two walks. He also struck out six batters.
Christianson led Canby at the plate with three RBIs on a double and two walks. Drietz also reached base four times with four walks in four plate appearances, and Sigler and Abrahamson each logged a pair of hits.
A Canby error allowed MACCRAY to plate a pair of runs with two outs in the first, but Canby responded in the second when Sigler reached on an error, Drietzand Christianson walked to load the bases and Zitzmann was hit by a pitch to push across a run.
Christianson hit a three-run double in the sixth to cap off a five-run half-inning, putting the mercy rule into effect after Canby held the Wolverines scoreless in the bottom of the frame.
Canby evens its record at 6-6 and next visits Hancock on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
