WALNUT GROVE — Kendall Jenniges had a pair of doubles and drove in a team-high six runners off two hits to highlight the Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove softball team’s 21-11 mercy-rule win over Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda Friday night. The win snapped a seven-game losing streak for the Falcons.

Bats became contagious and hits kept coming for RRC/WWG, and ultimately ended the game on an eight-run fifth inning.

Natasha Wahl and Leah Carter shared a team-high three runs, while Kendra Schroeder went 3 for 5 at the plate along with two RBIs and a pair of runs.

Jenniges went 2 for 3 at the plate with her team-best 6 RBIs along with two runs, while Carlie Ross also dished in another four RBIs on going 2 for 3 with two more runs.

The Falcons hung onto a 9-7 lead after each team scored six runs in the second inning. But, RRC/WWG tacked on another two runs each in the third and fourth before exploding for eight in the fifth to end the game early.

Hadley Jenniges got the fifth-inning rally started with a two-run RBI single to center field that scored both Schroeder and Mikayla Weis. Jenniges then scored two at-bats later when the Falcons got the bases loaded and Carlie Ross was walked.

Kendall Jenniges was also walked to allow Carter to score, while Kennedy Carter was hit by a pitch next to give DeAnn Roiger home.

The final two runs for the Falcons came off another while Schroeder had the game-ending hit with a two-run RBI single on a line drive to right field to drive in Kendall Jenniges and Kennedy Carter to put RRC/WWG ahead by 10.

Ross also spent the entire night in the pitching circle, and tossed three strikeouts.

The Falcons outhit HLOF 13-8, and both teams committed three errors on the night.

RRC/WWG (3-12) will look to keep the momentum going when it hosts Yellow Medicine East on Saturday at 9:30 a.m., and Dawson-Boyd at 1 p.m.
