OKABENA — The Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove softball team picked up its first win of the season Tuesday night, riding Natasha Wahl’s four hits and Hadley Jenniges’ four RBIs to an 11-6 victory over Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda in Red Rock Conference play.

RRC/WWG trailed 5-3 heading into the top of the sixth when the Falcons’ bats got hot. Walks to Sydney Foster and Wahl with a Kendra Schroeder single in between loaded the bases, and Jenniges flipped the game with a 3-run double.

RRC/WWG retired each of the next two batters, but the Falcons rallied with two outs. Carlie Ross drove in Jenniges with a single and, after walks to Kennedy Carter and Alandra Hansen, Leah VanDeWiele hit a two-run single. Wahl also added another RBI single and Jenniges walked with the bases loaded to bring the score to 11-5.

Ross earned the pitching win for the Falcons, giving up four earned runs on seven hits and nine walks with three strikeouts over a complete-game effort.

Wahl scored the game’s first run when she hit a leadoff double and scored on a Leah Carter ground out. Jenniges also singled before scoring on a Ross single to give the Falcons a 2-0 lead, but HLOF responded with a run in each of the next two innings and two more in the third to claim a 4-2 lead.

RRC/WWG improves to 1-1 on the year and next hosts Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian in Walnut Grove on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
