Panthers rout RRC/WWG in 20-0 win

FRIDAY

TMB 20, RRC/WWG 0 (4 inn.)

TRACY — The Tracy-Milroy-Balaton softball team was firing on all cyclinders behind an 11-run second inning to pick up a dominant 20-0 mercy-rule win over Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Friday. Braelynn Kirk, Alli Dolan and Melaina Ankrum all shared a team-high four runs. The Panthers were also walked a total of 11 times.

Gretchen Lanoue pitched a complete no-hitter with six strikeouts in TMB’s four innings.

The Panthers got hot right away, scoring five runs promptly in the first inning, followed by 11 more in the second and capped with an additional four runs in the third.

Natalie Wahl and Carlie Ross pitched for the Falcons, with Wahl leading the way with a pair of strikeouts in her two innings. Ross pitched the final inning.

TMB will next travel to Lakeview on Monday for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m., while RRC/WWG will look to bounce back on Tuesday when it hosts Murray County Central at 4:30 p.m.

Wabasso 8, RTR 5

TYLER — Camryn Irlbeck hit a homerun to help highlight the Wabasso softball team’s 8-5 win over Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Friday night. RTR’s Laken Baartman also got herself a three-run homer in the bottom of the second inning.

In a back-and-forth matchup, RTR first took a 5-2 lead following a strong four0run second inning.

But, Wabasso turned things around and kept the Knights scoreless the rest of the night while scoring three runs in the fourth inning to take its first lead.

Audrey Johnson went 2-for-4 at the plate along with a pair of RBIs to lead the Rabbits offensively.

Wabasso had a hitting advantage over the Knights, 7-5. RTR also struggled with errors, giving up five to Wabasso’s one.

Aylah Jenniges pitched the entire game, finishing with three striekouts, three walks, five hits and five earned runs.

For the Knights, Baartman led the offense with a team-high three RBIs off her homerun, and accounted for two runs and also walked three times.

Jaida Frick also pitched a complete game, tossing four strikeouts. She allowed three walks, seven hits and two earned runs.

Wabasso (4-0) will return home to host Sleepy Eye on Monday at 4 p.m.

RTR (0-3) will hit the road over to Yellow Medicine East at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

BOLD 3, Lakeview 1

OLIVIA — The Lakeview softball team fell behind early and couldn’t fully recover in a 3-1 loss to BOLD on Friday.

The Warriors took a 3-0 lead after scoring two runs in the second inning and one in the first.

The Lakers got on the board with a run in the fifth inning with Taylor Hinz scoring off a Kyha Gawrecki RBI single, but Lakeview was held off the rest of the day.

Makenna Anderson had another strong performance in the circle, pitching a complete game with eight strikeouts, allowing two hits, four walks and one earned run.

Lakeview (1-2) will next host Tracy-Milroy-Balaton on Monday for a doubleheader starting at 4:30 p.m.

BELLE PLAINE — The Marshall softball team dropped a pair of games in a doubleheader to Belle Plaine on Saturday, both in mercy-rule. The Tigers dropped the first game 12-1, and couldn’t find the response in an 11-1 game 2 loss.

In the first game, Belle Plaine rallied with a six-run fourth inning, along with another three in each the third and fifth innings.

Marshall’s lone run came in the top of the third.

Alissa Moen pitched the first three innings for Marshall, throwing one strikeout, while Sara Dallmann came in as relief for the final inning.

Marshall (0-4) will next host St. Peter today for its home opener with a 5:30 p.m. start.

BELLE PLAINE — In the second game of the doubleheader, Marshall was the first to get on the board with a run in the second inning after Bailynn Parsons scored off a Brynlee Dieken RBI sacrifice hit.

Yet, Belle Plaine held Marshall off the rest of the way while scoring four runs in the fourth and two in the fifth, before finishing off the game early with a five-run sixth inning.

Sara Dallmann pitched a complete game, finishing with a trio of strikeouts.

Marshall (0-4) will next host St. Peter today for its home opener with a 5:30 p.m. start.

Esko 5, Minneota/Canby 2

LUVERNE — Going into the fifth inning tied up 2-2, Esko ultimately took the lead and kept it to hand the Minneota/Canby softball team a 5-2 loss on Saturday at a weekend tournament in Luverne.

Esko scored a run in each the first and second inning, while the Vikings responded with a pair of runs in the fourth inning with Jayla Jerzak hitting a two-run RBI double to score Joelle Otto and Emily Walker.

But, Esko scored three unanswered runs in the bottom of the fifth to take back control and finished off the game the rest of the way.

The Vikings also committed three errors, to Esko’s clean slate.

Madison Hennen pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts, allowing six hits and three earned runs.

Minneota/Canby (2-2) will next look to bounce back when it travels to Pipestone on Monday for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.

LUVERNE — In the second game of the day, Luverne chipped away at its lead throughout the duration of the game to ultimately come away with an 11-1 win in six innings over Minneota/Canby.

The Vikings’ run came in the top of the second inning after C Antony scored on a M Bednatek RBI single off an infield grounder.

The Cardinals had a 4-1 lead going into the fourth inning before they scored another three runs, and ended the day with a four-run sixth inning rally.

Madison Hennen came in as relief for the final 3 2/3 innings, and tossed seven strikeouts. She stepped in for Joelle Otto, who got the start through the first two frames.

Minneota/Canby (2-2) will next look to bounce back when it travels to Pipestone on Monday for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
