Panka, Webskowski help Tigers to runner-up finish at Hutchinson

Hutchinson Girls Invitational
HUTCHINSON — Dayton Webskowski and Maddi Panka both put together top-5 individual rounds at the Hutchinson Girls Golf Invitational on Friday, leading the Marshall Tigers to a runner-up finish in the eight-team event.
Webskowski finished the tournament in third place with an 11-over 82, notching six front-9 pars and a birdie on hole 11. Panka also placed fourth in the 51-player field with an 89.
Marshall finished with a team score of 362, trailing only Class 3A Delano’s 355 and finishing one spot ahead of Class 3A Hutchinson’s 373. Delano had four of the top seven finishers.
Emry Weller slotted in as Marshall’s No. 3 scorer with a 94, good for eighth place, and Isabella Gossen placed 12th with a 97.
Hutchinson’s Elle Schweim ran away with an individual first-place finish, shooting an even-par 71. After bogeying the first two holes, Schweim rattled off 15 consecutive holes of par or better, including birdies on holes 2, 7 and 8.
Marshall returns to action on Monday with a Big South Conference event at Shoreland Country Club in St. Peter at 4 p.m.
Camden South girls meet
COTTONWOOD — Maddison Richter ran away with an individual first-place finish at a Camden South Girls Golf meet, Friday in Lakeview. Her performance helped lead the Lancers to a first-place finish in the four-team event.
Richter shot a 1-over 37 on the day, finishing with a birdie on hole 3 as well as six pars to lead the field of 15.
Canby finished with a team score of 195. Tracy-Milroy-Balaton, Lakeview and Minneota did not field team scores on the day.
Grace Mamer was the Lancers’ No. 2 golfer in the meet, logging a pair of pars to place fourth with a 48. Jayda Namken also placed sixth with a 52 and Karli Weber rounded out the Canby scorers in 11th with a 58.
Lakeview’s Nora Forslund was the meet runner-up, logging three pars to finish with a 10-over 46 and edge out Tracy-Milroy-Balaton’s Taylor Munson by a stroke.
Minneota was led by Ava Panka’s 51, good for fifth place.
The next Camden South girls meet is slated for Thursday at Stoney Creek Golf Course in Renville at 4:30 p.m.
Camden South boys meet
COTTONWOOD — Randy Sorensen, Owen Dalager and Blayze Hulzebos each placed in the top four of the Camden South Boys Golf meet on Friday, leading the Minneota Vikings to a first-place finish in the six-team event.
Sorensen was the Vikings’ top finisher on the day, carding an even-par 36 behind three birdies and four pars to top the 30-player field. Dalager and Hulzebos were one stroke behind him in a tie for second at 37, coming on the back of a pair of birdies by each.
Jase Sorensen rounded out the Viking scorers in a tie for eighth with a 42. Each of the four Minneota scorers are in their sophomore year or younger.
Minneota compiled a team score of 152, beating out runner-up Lakeview’s 163 and third-place Canby’s 175. Yellow Medicine East also shot a 189 as a group and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton shot a 213. Renville County West did not field a team score.
Eighth grader Ledgen Javens tied Dalager and Hulzebos for the runner-up spot, shooting a consistent round that featured six pars and a birdie.
Landon Teske placed sixth in the meet for the Lakers with a 41, while Trevor Tusberg’s 42 and Caleb Teske’s 43 rounded out the team’s scorers in eighth and 10th place.
Canby had a pair of top-10 finishers, including Lane Citrowske in fifth place with a 40 and Isaac Bollerud in sixth with a 41.
YME was led by Cooper McCosh’s 43 to place 10th and TMB eighth grader Charles Xiong placed 18th with a 49.
The next Camden South boys meet is slated to be hosted by Renville County West at Stoney Creek Golf Course on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
Wabasso boys triangular
SPRINGFIELD — The Wabasso boys golf team competed in a triangular at Springfield Golf Club on Friday, placing third despite a quality outing from Brayden Guetter.
Wabasso compiled a team score of 219 to place fourth. Springfield sent two teams to the event, with their A team taking first at 173 and their B team taking third at 208. Cathedral also placed second at 189.
Guetter shot an 11-over 47 on the day to enter a four-way tie for seventh place. He carded three birdies in his round.
Paxten Guetter was the Rabbits’ No. 2 finisher, placing 16th with a 51. Seventh grader Treyvin Hansen also placed 21st in the 28-player field with a 59 and Bradyn Weidemann placed 22nd with a 62.
Wabasso next heads to Rolling Hills Golf Club in Westbrook for a dual against Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda/Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
Willmar Boys Invitational
SPICER — Evan Mork led the Dawson-Boyd boys golf team at the Cardinal/Wildcat Invitational in Spicer on Friday, with the Blackjacks placing 11th as a team out of 17 competing teams.
Dawson-Boyd tied for 11th with both Morris Area-Chokio Alberta and Hutchinson, with all teams finishing with a score of 706.
Mork led the way with an 11th place individual finish, and carded a 158 with one birdie. Carson Stratmoen followed close behind in 13th after shooting a 159 in the 100-plus individual field.
Dawson-Boyd was up against some tough competition, with the meet hosting a handful of Class 3A and 2A schools.
Class 3A’s Lakeville South took first place overall with a 619, while Dawson-Boyd, Central Minnesota Christian and Lac qui Parle Valley were the only Class A schools that finished in the top-15.
Dawson-Boyd will next travel to the Ortonville Invitational, where both the boys and girls team will compete. The meet is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m.
