ST. PETER — The Marshall track and field team competed in a six-team meet in St. Peter on Monday, placing as the boys runner-up and finishing fourth on the girls side.

As a team, the Marshall boys finished with 117 points, just behind Belle Plaine’s 212 and one spot ahead of St. Peter’s 93. The girls tallied 89.25 points, trailing St. Peter’s 208.5, Minnesota Valley Lutheran’s 111 and Belle Plaine’s 97.25.

Sam Deutz earned a pair of first-place finishes for the Tigers, winning the boys 1600 and 3200. He also aided a relay team, alongside Hawkin Hartman, Mykel Paulsen and Aidan Schuerman, to a 4×400-meter win.

Schuerman also picked up an individual win in the 300-meter hurdles and finished as the 110-meter hurdles runner-up.

Marshall’s boys also picked up a pair of jumping wins, getting a first-place pole vault finish from Brady Dubs and a first-place long jump finish from Colton Lindquist.

The Tiger girls also earned a pair of jumping wins, with Brooklyn Purrington topping the high jump leaderboard and Autumn Deutz doing the same in the pole vault.

Brooke Gillingham won the discus for the Tigers and the 4×800-meter relay team of Katelyn Leibfried, Kaitlyn Soupir, Jasmine Murphy and Taleigha Bigler claimed first as well.

Marshall returns to action on Friday at the Hamline Elite Meet.
