Lakeview at Redwood Valley Invitational
REDWOOD VALLEY — The Lakeview boys golf team came up just one-stroke short at the Redwood Valley Invite on Thursday, as the girls team also came in second place. The boys team finished with a score of 188, with the Cardinals winning the meet with a 187.
The girls team finished the day with a 227 to Redwood Valley’s 213.
On the boys side, Legend Javens took first place in the invite individually, carding a 6-over 41. Redwood Valley’s Zachary Wilson followed just behind in second place with a 7-over 42.
Landon Teske came in fourth with a 13-over 48, with a birdie on hole 5, while Gavin Gregoire and Caleb Teske followed in fifth and seventh place, respectively.
Gregoire carded a 14-over 49, and Teske followed with a 15-over 50.
Trevor Tusberg and Koven Neuman rounded out the Lakers in eighth and 11th place with an 18-over 53 and 20-over 55, respectively.
For the girls, Lauren Boe led the way with a runner-up finish individually after shooting a 17-over 52. Emma Linsmeier for Redwood Valley took first with a 14-over 49.
Allison Isaacs placed fifth, carding a 20-over 55, while Nora Forslund and Jersey Stensrud tied one another for seventh with a 25-over 60.
Lakeview will next travel to the Trojan Invite today in Worthington at the Great Life Golf Course, with a 1 p.m. start time. The Lakers will then compete at the Marshall Invitational on Monday at the Marshall Golf Club, starting at 1 p.m.
RRC Triangular
SANBORN — The Red Rock Central boys and girls golf teams both placed second on Thursday in a home triangular with Mountain Lake Area-Comfrey and Hills-Beaver Creek.
Mountain Lake took first place in the boys’ meet with a 182, with the Falcons coming behind with a 195. Hills-Beaver Creek came in third with a 210.
RRC girls finished with a team score of 223 for second place, behind MLAC’s top-finishing 214. Hills-Beaver Creek did not have enough golfers to qualify for a full team.
Individually on the boys side, RRC’s Bryson Marsh finished in first place to lead the meet after shooting a 7-over 43 with a birdie on the first hole. MLAC’s Aidan Olson followed close behind for second place with an 8-over 44.
Finn Batalden came in fourth with a 10-over 46 to follow Marsh.
The Falcons also had a first-place individual finish on the girls side, with Jorga Brown carding a 3-over 39 with a birdie on hole 1. Abby Evans followed in seventh place with a score of 22-over 58.
Red Rock Central will next host another meet on Monday with Cedar Mountain, MLAC, Heron Lake-Okabena-Fulda/Westbrook-Walnut Grove at the Farmers Golf Club at 4:15 p.m.
