Kirk homers as TMB routs Dawson-Boyd
Prep softball roundup April 21, 2026
TMB 12, Dawson-Boyd 2 (6 inn.)
TRACY — Braelynn Kirk’s home run and Alli Dolan’s three RBIs powered a big day for the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton softball team on Tuesday. Taking on Dawson-Boyd in Camden Conference play, the Panthers exploded for 10 fourth-inning runs before claiming a 12-2 mercy-rule win in the sixth.
Kirk’s shot to right field came on the third pitch of the fourth inning, tying the game at one run apiece, and back-to-back doubles by Rosa Vang and Dolan put the Panthers on top.
Still, TMB wasn’t satisfied with a one-run cushion. Gretchen Lanoue singled and Aliyah Loftness walked to load the bases, and a Bella Martinez single and a Piper Freeburg walk each plated a run.
The Blackjacks retired back-to-back batters to threaten to end the big inning, but TMB continued to rally. Kirk walked in her second at-bat of the frame to score one run, Vang singled in another and an error on a Dolan single to center field pushed across another pair. Lanoue and Loftness each singled in one more run before a line-out ended the frame.
Lanoue earned the win in the circle for TMB, going all six innings while limiting the Blackjacks to a pair of earned runs on 11 hits and a pair of walks.
Shay Bothun was charged with the loss for Dawson-Boyd after giving up three runs on four hits over three innings. In relief, Kadyn Perkins surrendered nine earned runs on eight hits and four walks over 2 2/3.
Bothun singled in the top of the fifth before scoring on an Alivia Estling double to cut the gap to eight runs. An inning later, however, Kirk singled and scored on a Dolan single, and Dolan scored the game-clinching run on a wild pitch.
Estling logged a double and two singles for the Blackjacks, as well as a pair of RBIs, and Perkins and Bothun each singled twice.
Macy Moen scored the game’s first run in the top of the first, reaching on a walk, advancing on a Bothun single and scoring on an Estling line-drive to first base.
Tracy-Milroy-Balaton improves to 3-1 on the year and next hosts Minneota/Canby for a doubleheader on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
Dawson-Boyd falls to 0-3 and next hosts MACCRAY on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.

WINTHROP — Macy Rohlik drove in four runs on three hits for the Wabasso softball team on Tuesday, aiding the Rabbits’ offensive onslaught to a 12-1 Tomahawk Conference win over Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in six innings.
The Rabbits jumped ahead right out of the gates. Audrey Johnson and Aylah Jenniges reached base on consecutive errors to start the game, with Johnson scoring on the latter, and Rohlik followed up with an RBI double. Delaina Eis singled in a third run before scoring herself when GFW got caught up trying to catch Camryn Irlbeck stealing, giving the Rabbits a 4-0 lead after the first.
Jenniges threw all six innings for the Rabbits, holding GFW to one earned run on six hits and a walk with five strikeouts.
After a pair of scoreless innings, the Rabbits got back on the scoreboard in the fourth. A pair of walks to Irlbeck and Peyton Jenniges put runners on the corners with one out. Johnson singled in one run, Aylah Jenniges drove in another on a sacrifice fly and Rohlik singled in a third.
Cassie Bliss and Johnson singled and walked to start the sixth, and an Aylah Jenniges RBI single and a two-run single from Rohlik put the mercy rule in play. The Rabbits added another pair of runs for good measure when Rohlik scored on a passed ball and Eis scored on an error on the play, helping the Rabbits withstand GFW’s solo home run in the bottom of the frame to hold on to the mercy rule.
Wabasso now sits at 7-2 on the year and returns to action on Thursday when it hosts Springfield for a 4:30 p.m. doubleheader.

TYLER — Laken Baartman hit her fourth home run of the season for the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton softball team on Tuesday night, leading another prolific night for the Knights’ offense in a Red Rock Conference matchup against Murray County Central. Jaida Fricke’s pitching kept the Rebels off the board from there as MCC rolled to a 14-2 mercy-rule win in five innings.
Baartman came to the plate after Jenna Lovre, Paisley Thooft and Fricke drew consecutive walks to load the bases to start the fourth. She took full advantage of the opportunity, sending the first pitch she saw over the centerfield wall for a grand slam. The homer was her fourth in the team’s first six games.
The Knights’ rally didn’t end on the slam, however. A Daryssa Cruz walk and a Taylin Thooft single put two runners on when Morgan Appel hit an RBI single. With two outs, Paisley Thooft hit a two-run single and Fricke hit a two-run double to cap off a nine-run inning.
Fricke pitched all five innings for RTR, giving up a pair of unearned runs on three hits and a walk while striking out seven batters.
Through the first four innings, Fricke limited the Rebels to just three baserunners on a single, a walk and a hit batter. Each of the three baserunners she allowed were the leadoff batter of each of the first three innings before retiring three straight, and she tossed a 1-2-3 inning in the fourth.
Baartman finished the game with a homer, a single, a walk and four RBIs. Fricke also doubled twice and walked once for three RBIs and Thooft logged a pair of singles, a pair of RBIs and a walk.
Ava Deacon accounted for two of the Rebels’ three hits and Reese Wajer logged the other, including both RBIs. MCC did not record an extra-base hit on the day.
Charlie Paulzine reached base on an error to lead off the fifth for the Rebels before Fricke retired each of the next two batters. Deacon then singled, a wild pitch advanced the runners into scoring position and Wajer hit a two-run single to break up the shutout, but Fricke induced a pop-out in the next at-bat to end the game.
Kate Blankenship tossed all four innings for MCC, striking out seven batters while surrendering 14 earned runs on 10 hits and seven walks.
The Knights loaded the bases in the bottom of the first on singles from Paisley Thooft and Baartman and a Grace DeVries walk. With two outs, Taylin Thooft drew a walk to push across the go-ahead run and Peyton Johansen hit a two-run single to give RTR some breathing room.
RTR added further cushion in the second when Paisley Thooft was hit by a pitch before stealing second, advancing to third on an error on the play and scoring on a Fricke double, and Fricke scored on a DeVries ground out.
RTR improves to 2-4 and aims to inch closer to .500 when it hosts Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
MCC falls to 2-4 and hosts Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
