Jacobs leads Mustang golf in first day of NSIC tournament

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women’s golf team shot an opening round score of 53-over-par 341 and is currently in eighth place at the 13-team Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championship played at the par-72 Adams Point Golf Complex.

Isabella Jacobs fired SMSU’s low round on Wednesday with a 10-over 82 with two birdies and seven pars to sit in 33rd place in the 70-player field.

Meghan Pundsack and Berkley Steffen are tied for 43rd after carding rounds of 14-over 86. Pundsack closed with two birdies and six pars, while Steffen finished making eight pars.

Carly Hamman is in 45th place after carding a 15-over 87 with eight pars, while Allie Nedved shot a 27-over 99 and is in 62nd place.

Minnesota Crookston is the first-round leader with a round of 19-over 307, with Minnesota State in second place at 20-over 308. Anaka Lysne from Minnesota Crookston is the individual leader with a 2-under 70.

SMSU will begin round two on Thursday morning at 10:10.
