Deutz, Staab medal at Hamline Elite Meet
ST. PAUL — Marshall’s Autumn Deutz and Lakeview’s Jackson Staab each put together top-5 performances at the Hamline Elite Track and Field Meet, Friday in St. Paul.
Deutz placed fourth in the girls pole vault, tying Milaca’s Taylar Bockoven with a height of 11-06. Roseville’s Jayda Wilson won the event at 12-06, followed by Perham’s Grace Morris and North Branch Area’s Ella Dick at 12-03.
Staab placed near the top of the pack in both the boys shot put and discus. He was the shot-put runner up with a distance of 57-7.5, trailing only Bloomington Jefferson’s Michael Koleosho’s 58-4.5, and placed fifth in the Discus at 167-09. Maple River’s Auggie Yonkey won the Discus at 179-08, followed by Triton’s Brady Staub and Stewartville’s Thomas Lofgren at 171-05, and Forest Lake’s Howie Johnson took fourth at 169-00.
Marshall gets back to the track on Monday at 4 p.m. in New Ulm, and Lakeview returns to action at the same time at MACCRAY.
