Mustang golf places ninth in SMSU Spring Invite

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – The Southwest Minnesota State women’s golf team closed its first tournament of the 2026 spring season on Tuesday finishing ninth at the 13-team SMSU Spring Invite held at Wigwam Resort.

SMSU finished the 36-hole tournament with a score of 92-over-par 668, following a round of 332 on Monday and a 336 on Tuesday.

Meghan Pundsack led the Mustangs on Tuesday carding a 6-over 78 to finish tied for 27th overall with a score of 17-over 161. Pundsack closed her final round with one birdie and 11 pars.

Allie Nedved and Carly Hamman both tied for 48th with scores of 26-over 170. Nedved shot 13-over 85 on Tuesday with seven pars, while Hamman had four pars and one birdie on her way to a 17-over 89 in the final round.

Berkley Steffen finished 52nd at 29-over 173 after shooting an 18-over 90 on Tuesday with five pars. Natalie Appel shot a 12-over 84 during the final round with two birdies and four pars to close in 56th at 32-over 176.

Roni Hook placed tied for 57th shooting 34-over 178.

Addi Wood from Concordia-St. Paul earned medalist honors shooting 6-over 150, while Western New Mexico won the team title with a two-round total of 37-over 613

SMSU will return to action on Friday and Saturday hosting the 36-hole SMSU Challenge at Wigwam Resort.
