HOWARD LAKE — Every point mattered in the Marshall wrestling team’s triangular against Foley and Howard Lake-Waverly-Winstead on Friday. The Tigers edged out Foley for a 30-25 win in the day’s first dual, but HLWW’s heavyweight win gave the hosts a 30-29 win over Marshall in the second.

Both Marshall and Foley entered the day ranked in the latest Guillotine rankings, Marshall coming in at No. 12 and Foley and No. 11. Howard Lake was also receiving votes.

Brayden Chandler and Tyson Louwagie were the lone Tigers with pins on the day, as Chandler won each of his two matches by fall while Louwagie earned a win by fall in his second match.

Among Chandler’s two pins was a win over William Gutmorson, who was ranked No. 3 in Class AA 189. Chandler, who is ranked No. 2 in 160, moved up to 172 for the matchup.

Marshall now prepares for the team section tournament, which will begin on Thursday with the semifinals and finals slated for Saturday in Fairmont. Seeding for the tournament will be announced over the weekend.
