Tiger gymnastics places sixth at 3A championships
REDWOOD FALLS — The Marshall gymnastics season finished off its season Saturday afternoon at Redwood Valley High School, placing sixth out of seven teams at the Section 3A championships.
Marshall finished with a team score of 118.9, beating out Windom/Mountain Lake’s 112.8. Worthington won the meet at 142.675 to beat runner-up Luverne’s 134.1 Jackson County Central placed third at 133.325, followed closely by Redwood Valley’s 132.625 and Pipestone’s 131.725.
Shyann Murphy was Marshall’s top individual in the meet, placing 16th with an all-around score of 30.875. Raya Goergen, the lone junior on the team, was right behind her in 17th at 29.925, followed directly by Kiera DeRuyter in 18th at 29.925 and Chloe Citrowske in 21st at 27.975.
Murphy had Marshall’s top individual event performance, finishing 15th in the bars at 7.65.
For many of Marshall’s gymnasts, the meet marks their final time competing in the sport as Marshall High School is cutting the program after this season.
