CANBY — Owen Peterson scored 27 points for the Canby boys basketball team Monday night, leading the Lancers to a 58-55 win over MACCRAY to end the regular season with a Lancer victory.
Peterson shot 10 of 19 from the field with four 3-pointers in the win. His nine total rebounds were also a game-high.
Matthew Zitzmann contributed another 12 points for the Lancers while Jace Rangaard grabbed seven rebounds.
Canby is now 6-17 on the year and next competes in the Section 3A North play-in round on Thursday, heading to Madison to take on ninth-seeded Lac qui Parle Valley (3-23) at 7 p.m.
No. 7 HBC 69, MCC 51
HILLS — The Murray County Central boys basketball team wasn’t able to stage the upset in its regular-season finale Monday night, falling 69-51 to No. 7 Hills-Beaver Creek in Red Rock Conference play.
Dugan Kluis and Tristan Behrends were the lone Rebels to score in double figures, finishing with 12 points on 5 of 10 shooting and 10 points on 5 of 13 shooting. Behrends’ seven total rebounds and four steals were both team highs, and his four assists trailed only Kluis’ five.
The loss came in the absence of a key piece for the Rebels, with Aidan Swenson out for the game.
MCC finishes its regular season at 17-6 and next takes on Westbrook-Walnut Grove (15-11) in the Section 3A South quarterfinals at Worthington High School, Saturday at 4 p.m.
SWMC 78, WWG 35
WESTBROOK — The Westbrook-Walnut Grove boys basketball team’s regular season ended on a sour note Monday as the Chargers fell 78-35 to Southwest Minnesota Christian in Red Rock Conference play.
WWG finishes the regular season at 15-11, earning the No. 6 seed in the Section 3A tournament south bracket. The Chargers take on third-seeded Murray County Central (17-6) in the subsection quarterfinals, Saturday at 4 p.m. at Worthington High School.
RTR 69, A/E 55
ADRIAN — The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton boys basketball team picked up a 69-55 win over Adrian/Ellsworth on Monday, closing the regular season on a three-game win streak.
The Knights improve to 15-11 and enter the Section 3A South tournament as the No. 4 seed. The Knights will take on No. 5 Edgerton (15-9) in the subsection quarterfinals on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
