No. 4 Montevideo 70, Marshall 52
MONTEVIDEO — The Marshall boys basketball team couldn’t quite find the answers to slow down fourth-ranked Minneota in a 70-52 non-conference loss Thursday night on the road.
Oliver Voigt led the Tigers with a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double, while Rocco Rignell had a team-high of three steals.
Patrick Morman followed with 9 points, while Noah Pieper added another 8 of 3 of 6 shooting.
Montevideo was efficient from deep with nine 3-pointers, while limiting Marshall to just four from beyond the arc. The Thunder Hawks finished the night shooting 58% from the field while the Tigers shot at a 47% clip from the field.
Griffin Epema led Montevideo with 30 points on 80% shooting along with going 5 of 6 from the perimeter.
Marshall (10-11) heads to Montgomery on Saturday for a Big South Conference matchup against Tri-City United (0-18) at 12:30 p.m.
No. 2 CMC 85, No. 10 Wabasso 61
WABASSO — Caden Frericks’ dominance on the glass wasn’t enough to will the No. 10 Wabasso boys basketball team to victory on Thursday night as the Rabbits fell 85-61 to No. 2 Central Minnesota Christian in a non-conference matchup.
Guetter grabbed 21 total and nine offensive rebounds in the loss. His four steals and three blocks were both team-highs as well, and his 10 points tied him with Drew Kemp for third on the team.
Brayden Guetter finished as the Rabbits’ leading scorer with 18 points on 7 of 18 shooting, while Tavyn Larson added another 12 points. Kemp also made a defensive impact with three steals while Jayden Remiger was the team’s second-leading rebounder with five boards.
Wabasso (21-3) continues its three-game homestand to close the season on Tuesday, hosting Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop (14-9) at 7:15 p.m.
No. 8 Dawson-Boyd 87, LQPV 39
MADISON — Gunner Liebl and Jaxton Hastad’s double-doubles led the No. 8 Dawson-Boyd boys basketball team to an 87-39 Camden Conference win over Lac qui Parle Valley Thursday night, building its active win streak up to seven games.
Liebl finished with a team-high 21 points and 12 assists, while Hastad followed with 20 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Both shot efficiently from the field, with Liebl shooting 66% going 6 of 9, and Hastad at 77% finishing 7 of 9.
Carson Stratmoen also had the hot hand and shot 85%, 6 of 7, to add another 18 points for the Blackjacks.
Hastad and Stratmoen also dished out six and four assists, respectively, while Liebl also led the team with five steals.
Overall, Dawson-Boyd made a statement with its 52% field-goal shooting and held the Eagles to just 29% shooting.
Dawson-Boyd (19-3) heads to Glyndon to take on Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton (14-7) on Saturday at 5 p.m.
